Bitcloud is proposing a decentralization of the Internet. They plan to provide storage services and bandwidth that is right now the exclusive domain of ISPs. And they also say they can offer security, privacy, and uncensored Internet. One day, they project, this effort will take the place of the Internet as we know it today.
The Bitcloud Plan
Bitcloud plans to use the same technology that has been applied to Bitcoin mining to achieve their goal of providing ISP-like services. Bitcoin miners allow the system to use a portion of their processing power. Here, it is bandwidth that users will be contributing to Bitcloud to gain rewards. They believe that offering these rewards is what will allow the project to succeed. Instead of Bitcoins, it will run on Cloudcoins. And based on Bitcoin’s success, the group is confident that they will succeed.
If they succeed, users will pay the company to use bandwidth, data storage and connection routing services. They are currently in need of developers for the project. They will begin with a decentralization of the Internet. The ultimate goal is to create a new Internet. This new Internet will then be able to provide an uncensored version of the Internet that is private and secure.
Bitcloud Versus VPN Internet Privacy
We all know that privacy on the Internet is the key to both security and access. VPN Internet privacy is the main factor that allows people to keep their data and identities secure. It is also what allows them to defeat Internet censorship and bypass other access restrictions. So how is Bitcloud going to accomplish this? The group is still in the early stages of development, so they haven’t said much about how they are going to provide a secure, private, and censorship-free Internet. But Bitcoin was scoffed at when it was in its early stages. And now even Google is looking into integrating Bitcoin payments.
Clearly, there is a lot of optimism surrounding the Bitcloud project. But what will tip the scales is how they will guarantee privacy, security and free access. It is possible that the network will integrate VPN Internet privacy protocols. It may also be that they will have a completely new set of protocols.
